The Mokohinau stag beetle, is a large flightless species of stag beetle which was discovered by a lighthouse keeper on the Mokohinau Islands in New Zealand. The species survives only on a small unnamed island in a patch of vegetation the size of a living room. Stirred by its imminent threat of extinction, Emma chose to draw attention to the beetle in a colourful ginger jar design. Mountaineering through the branches of pōhutukawa trees the beetle seeks out sap and nectar.
