May 2019 we took our traveling collectors group to the Channel Isle of Jersey. Our good friend Ann was our tour guide and we covered a great deal of the island and what a delight it was. Doting back to neolithic times there is history aplenty with castles and churches and German fortification from WW2, so something for everyone.
78 Derngate Northampton
78 Derngate in Northampton was Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s last major commission. His visionary patron was model engineer W. J. Bassett-Lowke who became famous in his own right. This house is the only one in the world where Mackintosh’s mature architectural and interior styles can be seen together in their original setting being extensively remodelled by Macintosh between 1916 and 1917.
