May 2019 we took our traveling collectors group to the Channel Isle of Jersey, only 14 miles from the Normandy coast, it is the largest of Britain’s channel islands and has the best sunshine record in the UK. The capital, St Helier is great for shops with lots of local produce as well as the central market which includes great food stalls and places to grab a bite. Our good friend Ann Winghart was our excellent tour guide on Jersey and we covered a great deal of the island and what a delight it was. Dating back to neolithic times, there is history aplenty with castles and churches and fortification from ancient times right up to the Germans in WW2, so something for everyone as well as great scenery and food. We then went on to the UK’s Lake District and many places in between.
